Amblyomma cajennense ( Fabricius, 1787 ) . Neotropical: 1) Brazil , 2) French Guiana, 3) Guyana , 4) Suriname , 5) Venezuela ( Nava et al. 2014 a , Martins et al. 2016, Binetruy et al. 2019 , Guglielmone et al. 2021 ). The geographic distribution of Amblyomma cajennense has historically been accepted as extending over a vast area from the southern USA to northern Argentina in both the Nearctic and Neotropical Zoogeographic Regions. Tonelli Rondelli (1937) argued that several species were included under the name Amblyomma cajennense , but her opinion was ignored. Several decades later, Beati et al. (2013) and Nava et al. (2014a) demonstrated that Amblyomma cajennense represents a complex of six species, with Amblyomma cajennense sensu stricto restricted so far to the countries listed above, but this species has been widely confused with related members of the Amblyomma cajennense complex. Records of Amblyomma cajennense from anuran hosts in Trinidad and Tobago by Kamilar et al. (2020) are considered misidentifications, and this country is not included within the range of Amblyomma cajennense .
