Remarks.
Kivua pleuritica
is a small species (
5.5–6.5 mm
), and similarly coloured to typical
Athalia
species: head and thorax black, abdomen yellow. Furthermore,
Forsius (1927)
described the antenna as 10-jointed (8 flagellomeres). In fact, the flagellum is subdivided in 7 flagellomeres. The misinterpretation of these morphological characters explains why
Forsius (1927)
described the species in
Athalia
. The genitalia of
K. pleuritica
were illustrated by
Koch (1998a: figs 40–43)
.
