Cryptoserphus arcuator Stelfox, 1950 ; by original designation. This genus is distributed around the world, except for Africa and some South American countries ( Townes & Townes 1981 ). Representatives of Mischoserphus inhabit temperate and subtropical forests and parasitise fungus gnats ( Mycetophilidae ). Until recently, this genus has been unknown in the fossil record. Another representative of Mischoserphus is found in the Early Oligocene Bembridge Marls, Isle of Wight, UK (Antropov et al. in press).
