Sasa, June 22, reared from caterpillar feeding in flowers of A.belmoschus esculentus, Usinger ; Piti, July 8, at light, Swezey; Piti, Sept. 17, Oct. 10, reared from caterpillars boring the tips of branches of a weed, Malachra capitata, Swezey . This moth is distributed from India and Ceylon to Burma , Java, Andaman Islands, Philippines , Australia , and Fiji . In India , it is called the cotton bollworm on account of the injury to cotton bolls by its caterpillars. In Guam , it was recorded by Fullaway in 1911 as a stem borer in cotton. We reared the moths from caterpillars mostly on weeds.
