A new species of Xenorhipis LeConte and of Mastogenius Solier from Mexico, with a discussion of Chrysobothris ichthyomorpha Thomson and its allies and notes on other Mexican and Central American Buprestidae (Coleoptera) Author Westcott, Richard L. text Zootaxa 2008 1929 47 68 journal article 10.5281/zenodo.274593 2ff7011a-37c6-4b0e-aa5e-0724c210f8e0 1175-5326 274593 Mastogenius cyanelytron Westcott , new species . Mastogenius cyanelytra Westcott, 2005 : 41 . Unavailable name I ( Westcott 2005 ) stated that the specific epithet for this species is a noun in apposition. However, according to Article 11.9.1 of the ICZN (1999) , a noun in apposition must be singular; therefore, the original name is unavailable and creation of a new species is necessary. This new species follows my (2005) description for M. cyanelytra . The holotype for M. cyanelytron is as designated in that publication for the former name: “ MEXICO , México , 2800 m , Santa Catarina del Monte, 12 km (air) ESE Texcoco, 23.vii.1999 , R. L. Westcott, beating Quercus rugosa / HOLOTYPE Mastogenius cyanelytra R. L. Westcott , deposited in UNAM. In my opinion the ICZN (1999) needs clarification regarding how to rectify unavailable names as therein I cannot find any specific mention of that process. The following three species are discussed in detail, and because of their close and complex relationship are presented together for ease of comparison.
