REMARKS
According to
Quattrocchi (2000)
the generic name is from the Greek word “
geisson
” meaning a tile, and refers to the overlapping winged seeds in the dehiscent fruits.
Post & Kuntze (1903)
gave the name as “
Gissois
Lab.”, but their alteration of the spelling was not adopted and is not included in indices such as
