Cimexopsis nyctalis is an ectoparasite of chimney swifts, Chaetura pelagica (Linnaeus) (Usinger 1966) , but occasionally enters homes and bites humans. Cimexopsis nyctalis is not known to transmit any pathogens, but other cimicid ectoparasites of birds are vectors of arboviruses (Krisnky 2002).
