Southern part of Europe, North Caucasus, steppe zone of Northern Kazakhstan and West Siberia (Novosibirsk Area near the boundary with Kazakhstan ). Species identification. The collection of Herrich-Schäffer is lost (H. Nickel, personal communication). Identification of this species is based on Fieber (1868) and Ribaut (1952) and on investigation of specimens from Bavaria collected by Dr. H. Nickel ca. 150 km North-West of the type locality (Figs. 11, 35, 38, 80, 100). Remark. Apparently, some previous records of this species from Eastern Europe and Russia refer to H. achilleae .
