Benthic; depth: 25–1,195 m ( 82–3,921 ft ) (min.: Allen and Smith 1988 ; max.: Parin and Pakhorukov 2003); adults typically at 300–600 m ( 984–1,968 ft ) ( Mecklenburg and Sheiko 2004 ). Lumpenlla nigricans is a junior synonym ( Fricke et al. 2020 ).
