External characters.
Head between bases of antennae with pressed yellow hairs. Thorax and tegula yellow. Labial palpus short, dark brown, length two thirds of the eye diameter. Antenna brown grey. Wingspan

. Fore wing yellow, interspersed with small brown scales. Small brown spot at base of cleft. Three dark brown horizontal strokes on costal margin of fore wing in median and distal part. Apical part of second lobe dotted with small brown points. Fringe inside cleft grey brown. Outer fringe of second lobe grey with admixture of darker hair bundles. Hind wing unicolorous, dark grey. Fringe dark grey. Hind leg yellowish grey, darker at base of spurs.
Male genitalia.
Valvae asymmetrical. Harpe on left valva thin, rather long, arched. Strong curved process extending from harpe base. Right valva narrow, lanceolate, narrower than left one, noticeably narrowed in apical part. Right arm of anellus longer than left one, basal part of anellus arms widened. Uncus thin, narrow, tapered to apex. Phallus short, almost straight, half length of valva. Saccus with shallow oval notch from outside.
Female genitalia.
Papillae anales narrow, triangular. Apophyses posteriores long, thin. Apophyses anteriores not developed. Lamina postvaginalis wide, trapezoidal. Ostium in left part, antrum tubular, sclerotized. Ductus bursae short, membranous. Bursa copulatrix elongated, oblong; signum small, oval, with cluster of small spines.
Diagnosis.
Externally and by the general structure of the male genitalia,
Hellinsia nawrothi
is close to
H. aethiopica
(Amsel, 1963)
and
Paulianilus madecasseus
(Bigot,1964)
, but differs by the arched harpe on the left valva in the male genitalia, and by the special oval signum in form of small spines in the female genitalia from these species.

. The species is named after the Professor, Doctor of Medicine, Peter Nawroth (Heidelberg,
Germany
), a famous
German
endocrinologist.
