Corynoneura hirvenojai
Sublette & Sasa, 1994
Material examined.
Holotype
male,
GUATEMALA
, Medio Monte, small waterfall, slide n°
I–43
,
28.i.1981
.
Paratypes
: Barretal, small waterfall, slide n°
I–48
, one male; slide n°
I–40
, one male; slide n°
I–39
, specimen n° 3, one male and specimen n° 7, 1 pupal exuviae.
Remarks.
Eyes pubescent.
Paratype
male on slide
I–40
with antenna less plumose, with about one row of setae on each flagellomere. This character seems to be the same in the
holotype
, but
paratype
male n° 3 on slide
I–39
is another species since antenna has more than one row of seta on each flagellomere and gonostylus is smaller and not tapering as in the
holotype
. Also on the same slide n°
I–39
, apart from the pupal exuviae of
C. ferelobata
, there are 3 different pupal exuviae morphotypes, so that we think it is not possible to affirm that pupal exuviae n° 7 belongs to
C. hirvenojai
as suggested by the authors. Morphotype n° 7 is similar to
Corynoneura mineira
, the other morphotypes on slide
I–
39
specimens n° 5, 8 and one of n° 9 (there are two different exuviae under number 9) are similar to
C. unicapsulata
, n°10 and one of n°9 resembles
C. septadentata
.
The male of
C. hirvenojai
is very similar to
C. fortispicula
.
The hypopygium slides of
C. hirvenojai
available are not positioned so that we can compare the gonocoxite and the phallapodeme of both species. More material, the correct association of the pupa of
C. hirvenojai
and DNA analyses would help to separate both species.
