Comments:
P. mirificus
shows strong similarity with
marenzelleri
, but is regarded here as a valid species.A much shorter clitellum, septum 4/5 thickened less than the posterior thickened septa, a pair of very large male funnels commencing in segment 10 and clearly extending to segment 11, distinguish this species from congeners. A review of the
type
material and study of individuals collected in a new site confirm assignment of this species to the
marenzelleri
species-group. This species is known from three separated sites, all in
Eastern Cape
.
