Remarks.
Molecular studies (
Breure and Romero 2012
, Breure unpublished data) strongly suggest that this genus, treated with several subgenera by
Breure (1979)
, is polyphyletic and only the nominate taxon is grouping with
Megaspira
. However, further studies are needed as taxon sampling has been relatively low until now.
