Etymology.
The specific name, a noun in apposition, is in honor of the Querandi people, who lived near the
type
locality.
Diagnosis.
Males of
Ar. querandi
sp. nov.
differ from those of
Ar. hieroglyphica
in having a longer embolus, 2025° (5T+225°) long in
Ar. hieroglyphica
(see
Galiano 1977a
: fig. 18) vs 2160° (6T) in
Ar. querandi
sp. nov.
(
Fig. 11A
). Also, the RvTA in
Ar. hieroglyphica
is rounded (see
Galiano 1977a
: fig. 19). while in
Ar. querandi
sp. nov.
it is slightly bilobed (

Description. Male (
holotype
).
Total length: 3.69. Carapace 1.80 long, 1.15 wide, 0.69 high. Ocular quadrangle 0.92 long. Anterior eye row 1.00 wide and posterior 1.04 wide. Chelicera paturon with one tricuspid promarginal tooth, and one bicuspid retromarginal tooth and spine-like setae on the frontal surface in and spine-like setae on the dorsal surface in scattered pattern (
Fig. 8A
). Length of femur (both legs I lost): II 0.77, III 0.75, IV 0.98; patella + tibia: II 0.92, III 0.81, IV 1.13; metatarsus + tarsus: II 0.73, III 0.81, IV 1.04. Expected leg formula (based on closely related
Ar. hieroglyphica
