Material examined . 8 males , 8 females (ZISP 7500–7515) from Riparia riparia (Linnaeus, 1758) ( Passeriformes : Hirundinidae ), CANADA , Manitoba , Oak Hammock Marsh, 2008, coll. T.D. Galloway and S.R. Repa. Trouessartia ripariae is known exclusively from the sand martin, Riaparia riparia , throughout most of its range in both hemispheres. Originally this mite species was described from the European part of Russia ( Mironov 1983 ); further, it was recorded on this host in northern Africa ( Morocco , Ethiopia ), eastern and South East Asia ( Japan , Malesia , Thailand ) and in North America ( USA , Canada ) ( Gaud & Atyeo 1987 ; Galloway et al . 2014).
