Oxyporus flohri was originally described based on two specimens (one of them is a male) from Alto del Tizar ( Sharp 1887 ), a locality in Mexico that could not be located (Selander & Vaurie 1962; Campbell 1969 ). Subsequently, one female was collected in Xico, Veracruz ( NavarreteHeredia & MárquezLuna 1995 ) and two females in departamento Zacapa (Rio Hondo and San Lorenzo), Guatemala ( Campbell 1990 ). This specimen presents a color variation which has not been previously recorded in O . flohri : the posterior half of the elytra is black; the anterior half of the elytra is piceus; the ventral surface of the head is black; the pro and mesosternum, pro and mesocoxae are dark brown; the entire fourth and the anterior margin of the fifth visible abdominal tergite are black; and the third visible abdominal sternite has a basal dark brown belt.
