Body stout. Head ( Fig. 48 ) with lateral margin of occiput not well defined. Eyes without pubescence. Antennae of female ( Fig. 49 ) pilose, cilindrical, widened towards apex, club 10segmented, inconspicuous. Antennae of male ( Fig. 50 ) with the first flagellomere slightly curved, distally swollen; articles first and second subequal in length. Dorsal margin of pronotal plate ( Fig. 51 ) concave; sides of pronotum smooth. Mesoscutum ( Figs. 52 and 53 ) slightly convex in profile, smooth. Dorsal part of scutellum ( Fig. 53 ) areolaterugose, dorsoposterior part in dorsal view emarginate. Scutellar plate ( Figs. 52 and 53 ) large, elevated, with an elliptical pit close to the posterior margin of the plate. Mesopleuron ( Fig. 52 ) with subalar pit. Metapleuron ( Fig. 52 ) smooth. Forewings ( Fig. 54 ) dusky at base, pubescent, apical margin with hair fringe; marginal cell anteriorly open; veins darkened. Metacoxa ( Fig. 55 ) with a band of hairs along the posterior margin. Third abdominal tergum of metasoma ( Fig. 52 ) with a dense hairy ring at base; metasoma distally smooth. Geographical distribution. Neotropical Region: Costa Rica and Brazil ( Diaz & Gallardo 2001 ). In Brazil it is distributed throughout the States of Amazonas, Mato Grosso do Sul and São Paulo ( Guimarães et al . 2000a ; Diaz & Gallardo 2001 ). FIGURES 48–55. Aganaspis nordlanderi . 48. Head, anterior view (174x, 100 m); 49. Female antenna (66x, 250 m); 50. Flagellomerous 1 and 2 of male (84x, 100 m); 51. Pronotal plate (105x, 100 m); 52, Head, mesosoma and anterior part of metasoma, lateral view (35x, 500 m); 53. Mesosoma, dorsal view (74x, 250 m); 54. Forewing (10x, 0,5mm); 55. Metacoxa (120x, 100 m). Hosts. Tephritidae : Ceratitis capitata ; Anastrepha striata ; A. bahiensis . Lonchaeidae : Neosilba spp. ( in Diaz & Gallardo 2001 ). Remarks. Aganaspis nordlanderi was described by Wharton ( in Wharton et al. 1998 ) who remarked that this species shares several features with A. pelleranoi , suggesting that they are more closely related to each other than oriental species of Aganaspis Lin, 1987 . Diaz & Gallardo (2001) arrive to the same conclusion and suggested that the two species belong to a single group diferent from those from the Old World. Type material. COSTA RICA .
