Calamotropha melanosticta is similar to C. punctivenella ( Hampson, 1896 ) in the forewing pattern. It can be distinguished by the forewing with a brownish yellow streak from before the dark brown apical streak to M 1 and parallel to the subterminal fascia; the uncus bifurcated from distal 1/6, and the valva produced to a triangular dorsoapical process ( Fig. 39 ); and the absence of the lamella postvaginalis in the female genitalia ( Fig. 60 ). In C. punctivenella , the forewing has an indistinct fascia parallel to the subterminal fascia extending from before the dark brown apical streak to the dorsum ( Fig. 24 ); the uncus is not furcated distally, and the valva has a spine-like dorsoapical process ( Fig. 46 ); and the lamella postvaginalis is subquadrate ( Fig. 66 ).
