Type species: Thamnotettix prolixa Lethierry, 1885 . Description. Moderately sturdy, terete. Vertex projecting forward, roundly triangular, angled to face. Ocellus marginal, close to eye. Pronotum almost as long as vertex. Forewing brachypterous to macropterous with four apical cells and two anteapical cells. Male pygofer basolateral cleft usually membranous, pygofer side with the darkly sclerotized part on posteroventral margin, the darkly sclerotized part with more or less spines, dorsal margin often spinulate. Subgenital plate with concave lateral margin and attenuated apex, few macrosetae in marginal row. Style usually with basal arms widely separated, apophysis moderately long, hooklike, slightly longer than preapical lobe, more or less parallel to well-developed preapical lobe. Connective usually with long base and long branches. Aedeagus base subquadrate; shaft movably articulated with base; gonopore apical. First valvula dorsal sculpturing granulose to maculose, marginal or slightly submarginal basally and submarginal apically (Plate VII: A, B). Second valvula abruptly broadened a little more than 1/2 its length from base, with small obliquely triangular dorsal teeth on nearly apical 1/2 (Plate VII: C, D). Distribution. Palearctic Region.
