The cicada genus Guyalna Boulard & Martinelli, 1996 (Hemiptera: Cicadidae: Cicadinae: Fidicinini): generic description, twelve new combinations, and a key to species Author Sanborn, Allen F. text Zootaxa 2016 2016-04-26 4105 5 430 454 journal article 39184 10.11646/zootaxa.4105.5.2 60ca4dbd-002b-4ca6-999d-9174f9b02324 1175-5326 255425 52401DF9-2901-4AF6-BA17-696D39280B3C Guyalna variegata ( Sanborn, 2005 ) n. comb . ( Fig. 24 ) Fidicina “variegata” nom. nud. Young 1977: 270 . Fidicina variegata Sanborn 2005: 187 . Fidicinoides variegata Sanborn, Moore & Young 2008: 17 . Type locality. Turrialba , Catago , Costa Rica . Remarks. The species was last transferred to Fidicinoides based on the structure of the cruciform elevation and the relationship between the posterior mesonotum and metanotum ( Sanborn et al. 2008 ). However, the threepart tarsi along with a timbal cover with the rounded apex and approximate parallel sides as it extends anteriorly fits the expanded description of Guyalna provided here ( Fig. 24 ). As a result, the species is hereby transferred to Guyalna to become Guyalna variegata ( Sanborn, 2005 ) n. comb . Body length 21.9–28.5 mm , fore wing length 33.3–37.6 mm ( Sanborn 2005 ). Distribution. The species has been reported previously from Costa Rica ( Sanborn 2005 ; 2014 ).
