Stelis ornatula
(Klug, 1807)
Distribution:
Europe, North Africa, and into Asia (
Kasparek 2015
).
Notes:
The distribution map for
Stelis ornatula
presented by
Kasparek (2015)
in his review of West Palearctic
Stelis
includes
Portugal
. However, this record comes from the island of
Madeira
(
Fellendorf
et al
. 1999
) and we know of no records from mainland
Portugal
itself.
Stelis ornatula
is the parasite of
Hoplitis claviventris
(Thomson, 1872)
and
H. leucomelana
(Kirby, 1802) (
Kasparek 2015
)
, both of which occur in
Portugal
(
Baldock
et al
. 2018
).
Stelis ornatula
is known from
Spain
and is therefore highly likely to occur in mainland
Portugal
, but for now its presence here must be considered unconfirmed.
