( Caryophyllaceae ). Note: In 1767, Linnaeus simultaneously published two different epithets for this taxon: C. alterniflora (in Syst. Nat. ed. 12, 2: 127) and C. surattensis (in Mant. Pl. : 39). The latter name has been treated as the generitype , and is the name in current use.
