Three new species of Daveyoungana Blocker & Webb (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Iassinae: Hyalojassini) from Brazil Author Domahovski, Alexandre Cruz Author Cavichioli, Rodney Ramiro text Zootaxa 2019 2019-03-28 4571 4 477 488 journal article 27806 10.11646/zootaxa.4571.4.2 fec6f37f-b17e-4cf7-8688-0b0896be8e9b 1175-5326 10072948 6E24985B-A308-4D35-83D5-5EF71B8DF0EF Daveyoungana longibrachia sp. nov. ( Figs 15–35 , 59, 60 ) Diagnosis. Pygofer process ( Figs 21–23 ) with a slender medial process directed ventrad; apex strongly curved ventrad and acute. Aedeagus ( Figs 27, 28 ) shaft with pair of lateral processes near midlength, directed laterally near base, curved in right angle at one third length and directed dorsally, surpassing aedeagus apex. Description. Length 5.8mm (male), 6.3mm (female). Head ( Fig. 16 ) with clypeus sexually dimorphic (as mentioned by Dai & Dietrich 2015). Front femur PD row with three sparse long setae. Hind tibial rows PD, AD, and AV with 14–15, 10, and 15–16 macrosetae, respectively, PV row with beginning on basal third, setae of median third homogeneous in length, in apical third alternating short and long setae and ending in two short setae. Other characters as in the generic diagnosis (Dai & Dietrich 2015). Coloration. As in the generic diagnosis (Dai & Dietrich 2015). Male terminalia. Sternite VIII ( Fig. 19 ) with posterolateral margins slightly concave; posterior margin produced posterad; apex rounded. Pygofer ( Fig. 20 ), in dorsal view, with inner posterior angles acute; in lateral view ( Fig. 21 ) with ventral margin weakly rounded; ventral process ( Figs 21–23 ) with small dorsal lobe near base; ventral margin with slender, medial process directed ventrad, slightly directed internally in ventral view; apical portion with three subapical concavity ventrally; apex strongly curved ventrally and acute. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 24 ), in ventral view, with numerous setae on posterolateral margin near apex and few setae on ventral surface, near lateral margin; medial margin broadly rounded; lateral margin rounded apically, distinctly projected laterally; posterior margin straight, with very small projection near posterolateral angle. Connective ( Fig. 25 ) with stem ca. two times longer than arms, slightly broadened apically, posterolateral angles excavated; apex rounded. Style ( Fig. 26 ), in dorsal view, apophysis with basolateral lobe large, rounded, projected laterally; group of setae on dorsal surface, basally near medial margin and on ventral surface, posterior to basolateral lobe; distal portion elongate, approximately straight; apex truncated. Aedeagus ( Figs 27, 28 ) dorsal apodeme with pair of elongate processes, weakly sclerotized basally and membranous apically, as long as shaft length, directed dorsad, apex broadened and curved posterad; shaft with pair of lateral processes near midlength, directed laterally near base, curved in right angle at one third length and directed dorsally, surpassing aedeagus apex; apical portion approximately cylindrical, with lateral carinae near base of lateral processes, dorsally; apex without processes. Other characters as in the generic diagnosis (Dai & Dietrich 2015). Female terminalia. Sternite VII ( Fig. 29 ) with posterolateral angles rounded; posterior margin slightly excavated each side of rounded median lobe. Pygofer ( Fig. 30 ) with apex subacute. First valvifer ( Fig. 31 ) ca. two times higher than long; anterior and dorsal margins straight; posterior margin slightly rounded. First valvula ( Figs 31, 32 ) ventral margin apex with areolate sculpturing. Second valvula ( Figs 33, 34 ) dorsal margin with very small, rounded and irregular teeth between the median and apical large teeth and near apex. Gonoplac ( Fig. 35 ), with few sparse setae near ventral margin, except on apical portion. Other characters as in the generic diagnosis (Dai & Dietrich 2015). Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the very long aedeagal processes resembling long arms. Material examined. Holotype male: " Brasil , Rondônia , Flona \ Jamari , 3/ 5.ix.2012 (light)\ 09°08'75"S 63°00'70"W\ 110m / R.R. Cavichioli " (DZUP). Paratypes : 1♀ : same data of holotype . ( DZUP ) . Remarks. The pygofer ventral process of D. longibrachia sp. nov. is similar to that of D. collosa , but can be distinguished by its ventrally curved apex and the short and slender medial process. The aedeagus of the new species is very similar to D. blockeri sp. nov. in having the lateral processes of the shaft directed laterally, not parallel to the shaft as in D. collosa . However the new species can be easily distinguished by the longer lateral processes of the shaft that are directed laterally near base and strongly curved dorsally.
