Elcaribe scarbroughi
Webb
spec. nov.
(Figs. 230, 244, 258, 272, 286, 300, 314, 328, 341, 353, 357)
Etymology
This species is named after Aubrey G. Scarbrough who collected numerous specimens of this species on the Island of
San Salvador
and the name is treated as a noun in apposition.
Diagnosis
Elcaribe scarbroughi
is taxonomically associated with
E. laticornis
and
E. obscurus
in having an anterodorsal patch of dark, short setae on the gena; in lacking anteroventral and posteroventral macrosetae on the midfemur; and in having elongate, dark macrosetae along ventromedial margin of the gonocoxite in ventral view (
Fig. 244
).
Elcaribe scarbroughi
differs from
E. laticornis
and
E. obscurus
in having the posteromedial projections of the gonocoxite in ventral view (
Fig. 244
) almost touching medially. It differs from
E. obscurus
in having the anterior half of the ejaculatory apodeme (
Fig. 300
) clavate and flattened dorsoventrally in crosssection with a short ventral carina
.
