Head not exserted above pronotum, vertex generally wider than one eye (horizontal diameter of eyes). Antennae filiform, inserted between lower margins of eyes. Eyes not exserted above pronotal surface. Pronotum truncate anteriorly, subulate posteriorly and extends beyond apex of hind femora. Posterior margins of lateral lobes of pronotum with two concavities, posterior angles of lateral lobes of pronotum produced outwards, obliquely truncate behind. Tegmina long and oval, apex round. Wings generally present. Margins of fore and middle femora entire. Margins of hind femora finely serrulate. First and third hind tarsal segments equal in length. Bolivaritettix Günther is similar to Lamellitettix Hancock from which it differs in surface of pronotum with only short obsolescent longitudinal wrinkles, lacking protubrances on the margins and carinae; vertex seen from in front not sunken between the eyes. (median carinae between the shoulders and the foreshortened oblique intermediate carinae between the shoulders usually with smaller distinct protuberances; vertex seen from in front clearly sunken between the eyes, usually with small vertex protuberances in Lamellitettix .)
