Generic diagnosis.
Body cylindrical. Setae numerous, regularly arranged around each segment. Clitellum annular, xiv–xvi. Male pores paired within copulatory pouches on xviii, rarely xix or xx. Female pores single, rarely paired. Spermathecal pores usually large transverse slits, seldom small; paired, occasionally single or multiple, between 4/5 and 9/10. Intestinal caeca present, originating in or near xxvii. Testes holandric, rarely proandric or metandric. Prostatic glands racemose. Copulatory pouches present, often with stalked glands; secretory diverticula absent. Ovaries paired, xiii. Spermathecae paired, rarely single or numerous. Nephridia on spermathecal ducts lacking.
