FIGURES 297─299.
Metriopelma sternalis
Mello-Leitão, 1923
, lectotype female (MZUSP 28).
297,
sternum, labium, maxillae and coxae, ventral.
298,
left palp trochanter with stridulatory setae.
299,
spermathecae. Scale bar = 1mm.
Type material.
Lectotype
female and
paralectotype
immature male, here designated, from
Brazil
, state of
São Paulo
, Itapetininga,
Bicego
col. (
MZUSP 28
), examined (
Figs 297
─299).
Remark.
The
lectotype
has stridulatory setae on retrolateral trochanter of palp (Fig. 298), sternum rounded and convex (
Fig. 297
) and spermathecae completely fused (even though two vestiges of receptacles can be seen on its distal portion) (Fig. 299). There is no doubt it belongs to the genus
Acanthoscurria
and, therefore, it is transferred to it making the new combination
Acanthoscurria sternalis
(
Mello-Leitão, 1923
)
n. comb.
However, there is already a species with the same name,
Acanthoscurria sternalis
Pocock, 1903
, a junior synonym of
Acanthoscurria musculosa
Simon, 1892
. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a new name to replace the homonymy.
