It is morphologically and phylogenetically similar to P. canina (L.) Willd., but the latter differs in having branched rhizines and lacking isidia ( Wei et al. 2009 ). Its distribution spans China , Europe, India , Japan , Nepal , New Zealand , North America, South Korea , and the United States ( Awasthi and Joshi 1982 ; Park 1990 ; Wei 1991 ; Vitikainen 1994 ; Galloway 2000 ; Brodo et al. 2001 ; Hur et al. 2005 ). In Pakistan , previous collections were made from Utror, Swat (Aptroot and Iqbal 2010), while the new specimen was collected from Kumrat Valley. This study provides the first molecular confirmation of Peltigera praetextata from Pakistan . Material examined.
