Gymnometriocnemus
Edwards
/
Bryophaenocladius
Thienemann (
Fig. 47
)
Head capsule yellow to light brown, occipital margin pale or darkened.Antenna with 5 segments of variable lengths. Premandible with 3 teeth. Apical mandibular tooth shorter than combined width of 3 inner teeth. Mentum dark brown with paired, relatively broad and rounded median teeth and 4 pairs of lateral teeth gradually decreasing in size. Ventromental plates distinct, sclerotized, not extending beyond outer lateral tooth, reminding ears and visible at the first sight (
Fig. 47
).
Remarks: Without body and antennae, larval
Gymnometriocnemus
virtually cannot be distinguished from
Bryophaenocladius
.
Bryophaenocladius muscicola
(Kieffer, 1906)
and
B.
cf.
subvernalis
(Edwards, 1929)
are known from the Tatra Mts. lakes (
Bitušík 2004
).
Subfossils were recorded in low abundance but relatively frequently in the studied lakes.
