Etymology . From the Latin sinicus 5Chinese. Description . Body length: 2–3 mm ( in vivo ), 1.1–1.5 mm (xed specimens). Width: m m at III, 80–85 m m at V , 85 m m at XII (xed specimens). Segments 17–21. Epidermal glands pale, few, in two or three transverse rows per segment. Chaetal formula 1,2,(3)-2 5 2,3-2,3. Lateral chaetae: one per bundle in IX–XI or X–XI, two elsewhere, rarely three in III ( two specimens ); ventral chaetae: three per bundle in –VIII or II–IX, two in remaining preclitellar segments, two or three in postclitellar segments; all missing in XII in mature specimens.
