World distribution.
Known only from the East Balkans.
Remarks.
Our material is in agreement with Strasser’s (1967) observations, although the body colour is more brownish. In the original description Verhoeff discussed a special gynandromorph individual of
M. rhodopinum
,
i.e.
an adult female with cyphopods and eggs but also with male gonopods (
Verhoeff 1928
). Gynandromorph females are rarely published (
e.g.
Bigler 1920
,
Verhoeff 1910a
), neither did such individual occur in our material, even among any
Megaphyllum
individuals. Although not a well-developed gynandromorph, a strangely developed individual was found in
M. austriacum
(see above).
