Body uniformly brown to dark brown; antennal segments I to VIII uniformly brown to dark brown; fore wings uniformly shaded. Head with cheeks straight ( Fig. 51 ). Antennal segment II with some microtrichial rows; VI slightly broad ( Fig. 52 ). Pronotum with about 35 discal setae ( Fig. 51 ). Mesonotum without CPS anteromedially; median pair of setae near posterior margin. Metascutum irregularly reticulated medially; median pair of setae near anterior margin. Fore wings with 24–26 setae on costal vein. Abdominal terga without ciliate microtrichia on lines of sculpture, but often with a few dentate microtrichia, smooth medially ( Fig. 53 ), posterior margin of terga V to VII with microtrichia developed laterally; tergum II with four lateral marginal setae; terga VI to VIII with B4 setae minute ( Fig. 53 ); tergum IX with both anterior and posterior pairs of CPS ( Fig. 53 ); sterna without discal setae. Male has antennal segment VI much longer than that of female with numerous long setae and without microtrichia ( Fig. 54 ). Abdominal terga VI to VIII with B4 setae minute; tergum IX with a pair of CPS near B1 setae, with SB1 setae vestigial ( Fig. 55 ); sterna IV to VIII with one to six discal setae. This medium­sized brown to dark brown species appears to be distributed widely in the Palaearctic Region, and it is very similar to M. egonoki as discussed below.
