Range: Observation of the false killer whale occur during early summer to late autumn in the East Sea, especially near the coast of Gyeongsangbuk Province ( Kim 2004; Fig. 95 ). Remarks: The false killer whale, long considered a monotypic species, is now recognized by several stocks ( Carretta et al . 2010 ). The Central North Pacific and Eastern North Pacific stocks are significantly differentiated from each other based on mtDNA analysis ( Chivers et al . 2007 , 2010 ).
