Phyllophaga ( Phyllophaga ) bicolor (Moser, 1921) Redescription. Male genital capsule is short, compact, cylindrical, and curved ( Fig. 91 ). Parameres are short and very narrow with two sharp lateroventral projections directed towards the base, with an erect apical projection. The aedeagus is membranous and has small, sharp teeth from the base towards the distal extreme, which is tubular in shape; a curved hook projecting from the ventral base of this structure is present. Comments. The species was originally described with specimens from the collection of Ohaus obtained in Guayaquil, Ecuador . It has many characteristics in common with P. yucana , a species that also prefers warm or mild environments. The male genitals are very similar, and a careful revision of different specimens from different localities in Venezuela , Colombia , and Ecuador will be necessary to decide whether different species are involved, or if the different forms represent local variations.
