This species has a soft ochre appearance, lighter at the base of the forewing and streaked along the veins. The male genitalia resemble those of C. nyanzaensis sp. nov. , with obvious differences in the shapes of the protuberances of the sacculus and phallotheca. There is discrete individual variation in the genital structure of this species; in each specimen the shapes of the protuberances of the sacculus and of the cornutus are slightly different. Description. Wingspan 10–11 mm . Head light ochre dorsally and white above eye. Antenna whitish; scape fer- rugineous brown on inner side with short erect scales of same colour. Labial palpus white on inner side and ochre on outer side; second segment about 1.5 times as long as third. Proboscis normal, twice length of labial palpus. Thorax and tegula light ochre. Forewing light ochre in basal half, progressively darker with ferruginous shade in apical half, slightly streaked with light colour; a small dot formed by brown scales in cell; costal fringe ochre-ferrugineous, dorsal fringe light ochre. Hindwing and fringe light grey. Abdomen ochre. FIGURES 60–64 . Male genitalia of C. silvestris Baldizzone & van der Wolf , sp. nov . 60 . Male genitalia ( Figs. 60, 62–64 ): Gnathos knob globular. Tegumen stout, narrow in middle with wide peduncu- lus, dilated outside. Transtilla rhomboid. Valvula small, covered with long setae. Sacculus curved on ventral edge, triangular protuberance in ventral corner and tooth-shaped protuberance in dorsal corner. Phallotheca with two juxta rods of same length, one more robust with a dorsal tooth in middle. A single spike-shaped cornutus with a wide base. Female genitalia: Unknown. Abdominal structures ( Fig. 61 ): No posterior lateral struts. Transverse strut slightly and thicker on distal edge. Tergal disk about 9 times longer than wide, covered by about 20 spines. Bionomy. The early stages and the foodplant are unknown. Distribution. The species is known from Kenya and Uganda . Etymology . The species name is from the Latin silvestris = pertaining to a forest, referring to the biotope in which the species was collected.
