This bona fide species belongs to the Neotropical and Antarctic bigranulatus group but is easily mistaken for other siblings (see: Michalczyk & Kaczmarek 2006a , 2007 ). All records prior to 2006 require confirmation, while the three uncertain records from Africa require re-examination and confirmation.
