( Figs 17–20 ) Description. Male. Head and mesosoma black; metasoma dark castaneous. Mandible with two apical teeth; median clypeal lobe undefined, wide, median tooth weakly pointed; frons coriaceous, punctate; eyes weakly setose. Notauli complete; pronotal disc coriaceous. Metasomal tergite II with tergal process with weakly conspicuous lateral depressions, tubercle present, pit on top, tuft of setae present. Posterior hypopygeal margin straight. Genitalia: paramere with rounded apex, slightly arched inward, shorter than the basiparamere; aedeagal ventral ramus shorter than dorsal body, apex rounded, laminar, convergent; aedeagal dorsal body with two pair of apical lobes, outer pair wide, narrow, ventral margin serrated, inner pair membranous, basal process absent; apodeme extending beyond genital ring. Female unknown. Remarks. This species belongs to conicus species-group by having metasomal tergite II with one pair of lateral depressions, with tubercle, with pit on the top and tuft of setae. This species is not similar to any other member of this species-group. It is mainly different because it has the paramere with a rounded apex, which is slightly arched inward. Material examined. (CZMA). Etymology. The epithet iara from Tupi refers to a Brazilian folk tale, in which a beautiful mermaid lives on the Amazon River, with brown skin, long green hair, and brown eyes. Treat as a noun in apposition. Distribution. Brazil ( Ceará ).
