HOLOTYPE : AMNH 604073 , adult female, collected at Gerbidjo, ca. 2800 m , 06.34S , 38.30E ( R. Dowsett , personal commun.), Ethiopia , on 14 December 1900 , by Oscar Neumann (no. 411). From the Rothschild Collection. COMMENTS : In the original description, Neumann designated as holotype the specimen bearing his number 411. He apparently considered that only the one specimen belonged to the new subspecies; it is marked ‘‘Typus’’ in Neumann’s hand. All of the other specimens of ‘‘ Alseonax murina ’’ that he collected were listed under ‘‘ Alseonax murinus pumilus ’’.
