NOV. Fundicoccus (Fun.di.coc’us. L. masc. n. fundus farm; N.L. masc. n. coccus (from Gr. masc. n. kokkos ) berry; N.L. masc. n. Fundicoccus , a coccus isolated from a farm). Cells are Gram-stain-positive, non-motile, non-spore-forming cocci. The cell- wall peptidoglycan type is A1 α type (L-Lysdirect), comprising alanine, glutamic acid and lysine. The three major compounds of the fatty acid profile are C 16:1 ω9 c , C 16:0 and C 18:1 ω9 c . Three glycolipids, a phospholipid, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphoglycolipid and diphosphatidylglycerol are the polar lipids. Fundicoccus gen. nov. belongs to the family Aerococcaceae within the order Lactobacillales . The type species of the genus is Fundicoccus ignavus .
