Diagnosis
Body length 2.4–3.3. Pronotum slightly shorter than median head length. Dorsum generally greyish. Pronotum with a transverse brown stripe, sometimes broken in the middle. Hemelytron with numerous dark brown spots; embolium with three dark spots.
Males: Fore femur, palar claw (
Fig. 20A
), median lobe of sternite VII, and free lobe (
Fig. 20B
) as in diagnosis of subgenus. Fore tibia with two spines ventrodistally. Left paramere: shaft stout, with knoblike apex; basal lobe tongue-shaped, directed towards apex of paramere (

). Right paramere: shaft relatively slender, curved at distal third, slightly widened, then tapering towards a narrowly rounded apex (

).

Remarks
Micronecta haliploides
can immediately be recognised by the distinct dark spots scattered on the hemelytra. In this species the knob-like apex of the left paramere is also unique within
Micronecta
.
