Only four species of the genus Pseudonapomyza Hendel are known in the New World, most of them in the Nearctic Region. Pseudonapomyza asiatica is the only species recorded in the Neotropical Region ( Boucher 2004 ). It is also widely distributed in the Old World, and is a leaf-miner of several Poaceae species ( Spencer 1990 ).
