Common name
: Pr: Ozoonboroon, Derakul, Tirij, Sevruga, Puze deraz, Mahi-ye khaviar, En: Starry sturgeon, Stellate Sturgeon.
Diagnosis
: Snout long (60–70% of HL) with pointed tip. Lower lip not continuous, interrupted at center. Barbels long reaching mouth but nearer to it than to tip of snout. Side with small bony stellate plates and smaller grains between main scutes rows. Back dark grey to almost black, flanks lighter, belly white.
Meristic characters
: D: 38–54, A: 20–40, GR: 24–29, DS: 9–16, LSC: 26–43, VS: 9–14.
