This species was erected for a specimen from Amoy which
Monro (1934)
had identified previously as
Halosydnoides pilosa
(Horst, 1917)

Halosydnopsis pilosa
). The two species are keyed out by
Wu et al. (1997)
, who give the distribution of
P. hartmanae
as East and South
China
Seas. Shin (1982) and
Ong Che et al. (1999)
have previously reported
P. hartmanae
from
Hong Kong
waters.
