Antsiranana [Diego-Suarez], Sous-préf. Andoany [Hell-Ville]): île Nosy Be, Réserve Lokobe, forêt primaire près Ampasindava, prélèvement de sol au pied d’un grand arbre, 85m ; 30. XI. 1989 ; B. Hauser coll. Paratypes . Two females and three males. Locality and date same as holotype ( NHMG ). Description. Female . Length of idiosoma 370-380 Μm, width 340-350 Μm (n=3). Shape circular, posterior margin rounded, colour reddish brown. Dorsal idiosoma ( Fig. 60 ). Marginal and dorsal shields fused. All setae on dorsal shield short ( ca 9-11 Μm), wide, curved and slightly phylliform ( Fig. 61 ), surface of dorsal idiosoma smooth, without ornamentation, only three groups of muscle scars present. Ventral idiosoma ( Fig. 62 ). Sternal and ventral shields without sculptural pattern. Four pairs of sternal setae smooth, short ( ca 4–5 Μm) and needle-like. St1 situated at level of anterior margin of genital shield, St2 at level of anterior margin of coxae III, St3 at level of posterior margin of coxae III, St4 at level of anterior margin of coxae IV. First pair of lyriform fissures situated near anterior margin of sternal shield, second pair near posterior margin of coxae IV ( Fig. 65 ). First ventral setae ( V2 ) similar in shape and length to sternal setae and situated near basal edges of genital shield. Three pairs of ventral setae similar in shape and length to dorsal setae and inserted near caudal end of pedofossae IV ( Fig. 63 ). Setae ad smooth and needle-like ( ca 6–7 Μm), situated lateral to anal opening ( Fig. 64 ). Stigmata situated between coxae II and III. Peritremes hook-shaped. Genital shield long and linguliform, surface without sculptural pattern ( Fig. 65 ). Base of tritosternum narrow, tritosternal laciniae smooth, subdivided into three smooth branches ( Fig. 66 ). Pedofossae deep, their surface smooth, separated furrows for tarsi IV present. Gnathosoma ( Fig. 67 ). Corniculi horn-like, internal malae shorter than corniculi and smooth. Labrum apically pilose. Hypostomal setae smooth and needle-like, h1 long ( ca 19–20 Μm), h2 very short ( ca 6–7 Μm), h3 and h4 short ( ca 14–17 Μm). Apical part of epistome slightly pilose. Palp with smooth setae except for one slightly serrate seta on palp trochanter ( Fig. 69 ). Fixed digit of chelicerae with one central tooth and longer than movable digit, internal sclerotised node present ( Fig. 68 ). Legs ( Figs 71‒74 ). All legs with ambulacral claws and smooth and needle-like setae. Male . Length of idiosoma 960‒970 µm, width 780‒810 µm (n=3). Sternal shield without sculptural pattern, with five pairs of sternal setae and three pair of lyriform fissures ( Fig. 70 ). Sternal setae ca 4–5 µm long. One pair of ventral setae situated close to St5, their shape smooth and robust ( ca 6–7 Μm). Genital shield circular and placed between coxae IV. Other characters as for female. Larva and nymphs unknown. Etymology. We dedicate the new species to our dear friend; the noted Oribatida specialist, Dr. Sergey Ermilov.
