The specimen examined is unique in maculation with 10 black spots on each elytron plus a scutelar spot. The male genitalia are identical with the illustration given by Kapur (1963b) . Booth (1997) stated that the elytron sometimes has a weak suggestion of three pale longitudinal stripes. We found three black stripes on the underside of the elytron. This species was observed in the laboratory to prey voraciously on the hemlock woolly adelgid.
