Ecology. This species clearly prefers forests and mountainous habitats in Portugal , and has not been recorded from the littoral zone. In northwestern Europe, M. saxatilis has been found in numbers both in coastal and inland dunes, on trunks of a variety of deciduous trees and on walls. Rarity (%). 31.0 (common). Common (FL).
