Ixodes malayensis

Ixodes malayensis
has only been recorded from the Cameron Highlands of peninsular
Malaysia
(
Kohls 1962
). The only known host is the common tree shrew,
Tupaia glis
, which has a wide Oriental distribution (
Lekagul and McNeely 1977
) and has often been sampled for ticks in other areas (
e.g.
,
Hoogstraal
et al
. 1968b
,
1973b
; Saito
et al
. 1971).
The female was described by
Kohls (1962)
.
