Type species: Tsutsumiothrips ryukyuensis sp. n. Female . Wings fully developed. Ocellar setae I absent, setae II distinctly longer than setae III ( Fig. 267 ). Postocular setae six pairs. Compound eyes without pigmented ommatidia. Maxillary palpi 3-segmented. Antennae ( Fig. 268 ) 7-segmented, segment I without median dorsal apical setae, III and IV with sensoria forked, III to VI with some rows microtrichia on both dorsal and ventral surfaces. Pronotum ( Fig. 267 ) with 2 pairs of posteroangular setae well developed. Mesonotum with median pair of setae far from posterior margin. Metascutum sculptured with longitudinal striae except median anterior third; median pair of setae behind anterior margin. Metaepimeron with two setae. Metaepisternum with setae. Metapre-episternum developed with two setae. Prosternal ferna weakly connected at middle; basantra membranous, without setae; prospinasternum broad and transverse. Mesosternum with sternopleural sutures complete; endofurca with spinula weak; metasternal endofurca without spinula. Fore wing first vein with long gap in setal row, second vein with many setae evenly spaced; clavus with five veinal and one discal seta; posteromarginal fringe cilia wavy. Tarsi 2-segmented. Abdominal tergites I to VIII ( Fig. 269 ) with large dentate posteromarginal craspeda except middle of tergite I; tergites V to VIII with paired ctenidia, each ctenidium mesad of spiracles on tergite VIII; tergite X with longitudinal median split almost complete; sternites ( Fig. 270 ) without discal setae, II to VII with large dentate posteromarginal craspeda except middle of sternite VII ; sternites III to VII with 3 pairs of posteromarginal setae, but II with 2 pairs; sternite VII with S1 and S2 setae in front of posterior margin; pleurotergites without discal setae, and with posteromarginal craspeda as tergites and sternites. Ovipositor developed. Male . General structure same as female. Abdominal sternites III to VII ( Fig. 271 ) each with a large oblong pore plate; sternites VII with posteromarginal craspeda throughout. Comments . This genus is has intermediate character states between Fulmekiola and Stenchaetothrips but there are some differences among these genera discussed above. Etymology . In reference to Dr. Tsutsumi Tadaaki who collected the species for the first time.
