Etymology.
The specific name
parabrevicollis
refers to the similarity of this new species with
Metaseiulus brevicollis
González & Schuster.
Comments.
Metaseiulus parabrevicollis
sp. n.
belongs to the
brevicollis
species group with seta
R1
inserted on dorsal shield in the female (
Chant & McMurtry, 1994
) and resembles
M
.
brevicollis
. It differs by having the calyx of spermatheca dish-shaped instead of bell-shaped, seven instead of eight setae on genu II and only one macroseta on leg IV. Both species have five pairs of dorsal solenostomes, but in
M
.
brevicollis
gd1 is absent and
gd5
present while in
M
.
parabrevicollis
gd1 is present and
gd5
absent.
