Type species: Protohermes davidi van der Weele, 1909, original designation. The Protohermes latus species group Diagnosis. Body large-sized (male wingspan over 100 mm ). Head yellowish brown to brown, immaculate, postocular spine prominent. Posterior ocelli close to median ocellus. Pronotum strongly expanded in male. Wings hyaline, immaculate; humeral area well developed. Male ectoproct bilobed dorsovetrally, dorsal lobe transversely expanded, ventral lobe much narrow, digitiform or band-like. Remarks . This species group appears to be closely related to the P. da v id i group and the P. xingshanensis group as it shares the large body size and the immaculate wings. However, it can be distinguished from the latter two species groups by the strongly expanded male pronotum and the bilobed male ectoproct with the dorsal lobe transversely expanded. In the species of the P. d a v i d i group the male ectoproct is simply valvate. In the species of P. xingshanensis group the male ectoproct is bilobed, but the dorsal lobe is elongate and band-like.
